Principal Message

July 2019

Dear Studebaker Parents/Guardians:

I hope you are having a fun and relaxing summer break.  The Studebaker staff and I are looking forward to the start of another successful school year.

I would like to introduce myself as the proud new principal of Studebaker Elementary School.  My name is Yasmin Ruiz.  I grew up in Norwalk and was fortunate to begin my teaching career at Studebaker Elementary.  I taught 4th and 5th grade for 9 years at Studebaker, then transferred to Lakeview Elementary and taught 5th grade for 12 more years.  Wanting to experience middle school, this last school year I taught 6th grade at Lake Center Middle School.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in History from Cal. State University Los Angeles and my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Cal. State Long Beach.  I completed my Credential in Administration in 2018 from Cal. State Long Beach.  Throughout my 22 years with the Little Lake City School District I have served on many leadership committees and have been Summer School principal on numerous occasions.

I am extremely excited to return to Studebaker as principal.  I feel like I am coming home. I can’t wait to meet your children and get to know all of the Studebaker parents and community members who are an important part of this educational team.

The Little Lake City School District will continue to use the online registration system that we used last year.  To register your child, you will be emailed an access code and directions for the online registration system.  Please complete your registration to ensure that your child is placed in a classroom.   The office will be open beginning Monday, August 12 from 7:30 – 4:00, except on Thursday, August 10 when it will be open from 10:30 - 7:00.  Please call if you have any questions.

Wednesday, August 21, 2019 is the first day of school.  The school day begins at 8:15 a.m.  It is a minimum day with all students being dismissed at 1:30. Thursday and Friday (August 22 and 23) will also be minimum days.  Please make sure that you take note in the dismissal changes for Thursday and Friday.

Tentative classroom assignments for students will be posted outside the main office on Tuesday, August 20 at 3:30 p.m.  Please note that due to enrollment numbers during the first few weeks of school, changes in classroom assignments may need to be made.  A list of recommended school supplies for each grade level can be found on our school website (studebaker.llcsd.net).

All Studebaker school days begin at 8:15 a.m.  The front gate is opened each morning at 8:00 a.m. for students to enter the school grounds.  I highly recommend that students arrive no later than 8:10 a.m.   I ask that you make it a priority to have your child arrive to school on time each and every day

I look forward to seeing you all on August 21 to start another great school year, as well as on Back to School night on September 11.

Sincerely,

Yasmin Ruiz

Principal
